Workshop or sweatshop?

Here's the verdict on my Bangalore workshop - Super !

Super fun, that is. Since it was a beginner-to-intermediate skill level workshop, I chose to teach the very versatile nine patch block, set in an interesting fashion, resulting in the blooming nine patch.

The first day was a little disheartening seeing that progress was slow. For the participants that is, not me.  I had more faith in them than they themselves, I think :-). Pooja and Smita kept us high spirits with their never ending wisecracks and weird anecdotes. Varsha and Nikhat lit up the room with their smiles and worked with a neatness that everyone aspired to. Sangita's expression of pure joy at learning was a joy to behold. And it was awe inspiring to note Nivedita's guts at attempting this workshop and wanting to learn despite being a novice. The second day, however, ended on a high. No, no, not because of the Breezers. Okay, not ONLY because of the Breezers, but also on seeing their quilts near completion. Plus I didn't need to get my whip out :-).

I hope I managed to leave each one of them with a little more knowledge and love of quilting than they had before the workshop. I am extremely proud of all of them.

Thank you Pooja for opening your home to us and being the perfect hostess. Thanks Sudnya for dropping in.  Thanks Shraddha for being you. Thank you girls for your love and faith in me. Waiting for pics of your completed quilts. And your verdict - Workshop or sweatshop? :-)

The next workshop will be in Chennai in the month of April. Please contact me for details if interested.

Happy quilting !

Edited to add : Linking this up with the Nine Patch Linky Party over at Chumkie's @ 'My favourite Things'.

  5. For me, that's exactly the meaning of fun! What a wonderful time you should have had, with an awesome ending: those quilt tops are beautiful! The perfect recipe for joy: a group of charming friends, food, high spirit and the best seasoning, fabric to piece and quilt...
